Questions and Negative Passive Voice.

As is the case for other English conjugations, verbs in the Passive Voice form questions and negative statements using the first auxiliary.

a) To form a question, the first auxiliary is placed before the subject. For example:

(passive)You were shown the sights.
(passive question) Were you shown the sights?

(passive) She is being shown the sights.
(passive question) Is she being shown the sights?

Convert the sentences from the active voice to the passive.

1. Did the bull kill the matador?

_________ the matador killed by the bull?

2. Have the police found the body?

_______ the body been found by the police?

3. Why has the government banned the film?

Why has the film _________ by the government?

4. Do the hounds kill the fox?

Is the fox _____________ ?

5. How did your host family treat you?

___________ treated by your host family?

6. Have the police found the body?

_______ the body been found by the police?

7. Has anyone cleaned the oven yet?

________________ been cleaned yet?

8. Did they catch the thief?

Was the thief _________ ?

9. When did they hijack the plane?

When ____________ hijacked?

10. Will The King inaugurate the new bridge?

Will the new bridge __________ by The King?
